Preparation for mega Tawang festival
Tawang, Sept 20: A meeting regarding the preparations for the Mega Tawang Festival was held in the Conference hall of the Tawang deputy commissioner here yesterday.
Sonam Chombay, Secretary Tourism while briefing the main motive of organizing such festival, said “It is because of such events that Tawang today have become a famous tourist destination. Sonam also stressed for better coordination among the populace of the district to make the festival a successful one.
“Despite financial constrain, the Government has approved for the Tawang festival which will be held annually. So the administration must be very realistic and rational in framing the estimates for the festival without compromising on quality,” said Sonam while urging the members of different sub- committees of the festival to draw a check list, plan of action and submit the estimates for the approval of the government.
Tawang the DC Kemo Lollen urged all the members present to work sincerely and with dedication so as to make Tawang a global tourist destination. Lollen also stressed on better management and coordination among the members so as to make this event a successful one.
Tsetan Chombay, President YUVA Arunachal, who has been appointed as the Festival Director, gave a power point presentation and outline structure of the events for the festival. He urged for suggestions and feedback from the members regarding the events/programmes.
The meeting discussed in length the preparations/suggestions with respect to the festival.

It is to be mentioned here that Minister for RWD & Tourism Pema Khandu, in a meeting here on Septometer 10 announced that the 5 days Tawang Festival, 2012 (previously called Buddha Mahotsav) would be held from 26 to 30 October at Tawang. Cultural shows, exhibition and food stalls, adventure sports and showcasing of various tourist and religious places of the district would be the main attractions of the event. DIPRO
